about

probably from around 2006 and right before Free Milk (at least the first half is). this is an exceptional example of the aimless experimentation and sheer fetishism of textures was on full display (at least the second half).

in other words sandwiched between Moonlighting, the last Bloomin' Idaho release, and Free Milk, an eponymous release, was this. frustrated by overblown recording methods and the time consuming nature of building in a studio the first half was looked at as a lo fi "live" "demo" of a bunch of new tracks for whatever i would call my next acoustic singer-songwriter project after putting the Bloomin' Idaho behind me. frustrated further by the situation led to building Free Milk from scratch.

so the first half is the end of that acoustic era and the close of a certain type of broad melodic experimentation. the second half i have next to no idea what it is but i think it's kind of just a broad experimentation instrumental thing that was very heavily recorded on walkman and manipulated later. it was labeled "acousticar 2" when it was found so they are presented here as a pair and are very likely from the same time period.

the acoustic songs were intended to be developed later and amwagm rehearsed several of these tracks before they were abandoned. there's a very kind of unserious 90's kid vibe all over this thing to my current, ears, admittedly out of time and context. how exciting it was to find this languishing in a digital cavern someplace tonight and present it here.
